Assistant Professor of Spanish
Sandra García Gutiérrez is an Assistant Professor of Spanish and Iberian Studies in the Department of English and Modern Languages at Â鶹ÊÓƵ. She holds a Ph.D. in Spanish and a Graduate Certificate in Cultural Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Sandra is co-editing the volume Women’s Agency and the Gothic in Spain and the Americas, forthcoming from Manchester University Press. In July 2023, she co-directed the inaugural edition of the conference “FOGO: Folklore and Gothic—Supernatural Presences and Environments in Spain and the Americas,” held at the Universidad de León, Spain. An enthusiastic researcher of the Gothic, Sandra has published several articles on heroines and the representation of fear. In the classroom, she believes educators should guide, challenge, and support students. She is committed to creating a collegial and rigorous environment that inspires curiosity and engagement.
