Location: Â鶹ÊÓƵ Nutrition, Hospitality & Human Services Atrium

Â鶹ÊÓƵ culinary students will begin hosting Dinners in the Spring on March 25, April 1, and April 8. Each dinner will include a different Monday night theme. Students have planned every aspect of these dinners from menu planning to execution. Cost of a ticket is $22.50.

Center for Resiliency Distributes Smart Storm Backpacks on Wednesdays

Date: Wednesday, Apr. 10, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Location: Cherry Engineering, Signature Center Suites (lobby)

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Center for Resiliency distributes disaster backpacks for SmartStorm disaster preparedness participants. Backpacks are being distributed on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Cherry Engineering Building's Signature Center Suites lobby. Participants must bring verification of SmartStorm completion to receive a backpack.

Lamar Dining to Host "Thoughtful" Event on Apr. 11

Date: Thursday, Apr. 11, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Location: Brooks-Shivers Dining Hall

Join Lamar Dining on the last JoyFul event of the year, "Thoughtful" on April 11. We will be focusing on health and happiness through food and activities. There will be a special menu, an agua fresca bar, giveaways (while supplies last) and more.

Walk a Cardinal Mile Against Sexual Assault

to show support and raise awareness for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. All are invited and encouraged to wear heels of their choosing. There will be a limited number of heels available to borrow, first come, first served. Win a prize for the craziest pair of heels.

Poetry Reading

Â鶹ÊÓƵ Literary Press authors David Meischen, Dave Oliphant, John Rutherford, and Kelly Ann Ellis will be reading selected poems from their new poetry collections. Refreshments and reception from 3:30 - 4:00 p.m., followed by poetry readings from 4 - 5 p.m. will take place.

Lamar Opera Theatre Presents: Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini

Date(s): Friday, Apr. 12 & Saturday, Apr. 13, 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.
Location: Jimmy Simmons Music Building, Rothwell Recital Hall

Lamar Opera Theatre will present two performances of Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, a one-act comic opera based on Dante's Inferno. All performances are free and open to the public. Performance duration is approximately one hour.

Built Culture
The Built Culture of Southeast Texas with Tara A. Dudley

Date: Tuesday, Apr. 16, 4:30 - 7:00 p.m.
Location: Dishman Art Museum (2nd floor gallery & auditorium)

Architectural scholar Tara Dudley will give the keynote at the 3rd Annual Greater Gulf Symposium. She will talk about the built culture of Southeast Texas. Dudley teaches at the University of Texas (Austin), and is the author of "Building Antebellum New Orleans," winner of the 2022 Summerlee Book Prize.

Does your kid love to dance? Join us at the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Dance Team's Spring Show Clinic for Kids. This event is open to all dancers 1st grade to 8th grade. Come out and celebrate the end of the semester with live music featuring Dende, who has more than 230,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. This event is free for students. Industry and Maritime Research Opportunities

The Center for Advances in Port Management (CAPM) now has their Requests for Proposals live on . CAPM is seeking research proposals in Industry and Maritime and is interested in both technical applications as well as sociological impacts in this area. Proposals are due by May 15 at 5 p.m.

Call for Summer 2025 Study Abroad Course Proposals from Â鶹ÊÓƵ Faculty

The Office of Study Abroad is now accepting study abroad course proposals for 2024-2025 faculty-led study abroad programs. Workshops to assist faculty in creating study abroad programs and putting together a proposal will be held on the following dates: April 23, 24, 30; May 1, 7, 8, 14, and 15.

Now Hiring Â鶹ÊÓƵ Full-time Staff as Auxiliary Crew Members

Â鶹ÊÓƵ Operations is now hiring full-time Â鶹ÊÓƵ staff willing to work after normal scheduled hours. Crew members will work with campus partners to set up venues and spaces for major events, work in special assignments, move equipment or furniture across campus, and provide general work support for campus operations.
