The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Speech and Hearing Clinic offers audiology services as a benefit of employment to employees, their insurance-covered dependents, or to currently enrolled students, with no out-of-pocket expenses. Â鶹ÊÓƵ Center for Resiliency Continues Disaster Backpack Distributions on Wednesdays

Prepare for hurricane season with the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Center for Resiliency Smartstorm disaster training and receive a backpack complete with emergency supplies to assist you and your family in the event of a disaster. Bring your participation verification to the Signature Center suites located in the Cherry Engineering Building on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Join us at Spindletop Boomtown Museum for an outdoor showing of "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days." Bring your comfy chair or blanket and let the stars be your backdrop for an unforgettable evening. Doors will open at 8 p.m., and the movie begins around 8:45 p.m. Food, concessions, and drinks will be available for purchase. Â鶹ÊÓƵ students can attend for free.

Boomtown Summer Serenade

Date: Friday, July 26, 7:30 - 10:00 p.m.
Location: Spindletop Boomtown Museum

Join Spindletop Boomtown Museum for an evening of live music by Jamie Talbert, food, and local artist vendors at Boomtown Summer Serenade. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.; and music is from 8 to 10 p.m. There will be a $5 general entry fee and free entry for Â鶹ÊÓƵ students. Â鶹ÊÓƵ students will receive a free food voucher with a valid student ID.

E-5 Parking Lot Closure

The E-5 parking lot at the Mary & John Gray Library will be closed on Tuesday, June 25 for a tree installation. Please view the campus map to find an alternate parking plan if needed.

SHC Relocation
Â鶹ÊÓƵ Student Health Center Closed for Moving

The Student Health Center will temporarily close from June 14 at noon to July 7. We'll reopen at 8 a.m. on July 8 in our new location inside the Sheila Umphrey Recreational Center. If you need care during this time, please visit the nearest urgent care or ER. Visit lamar.edu/healthcenter for more information.

End of Fiscal Year 2024 Deadlines Established

The Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 ends on August 31, 2024. Financial Services has established the following deadlines for processing transactions against current FY24 funds to ensure the university's business is conducted in full compliance with state laws and policies. This also helps establish purchase orders/contracts/payments/travel/payroll/inventory applications for the start of FY25. These deadlines are established to enable staff to better manage the increased year-end workload.

Carl Parker Memoir Available May 31

TURTLE ON A POST: MEMOIR OF TEXAS STATE SENATOR CARL PARKER will be available May 31. Over two years, Carl Parker recorded stories of his career, and his wife, Beverly, typed them up. Jim Sanderson then assembled, organized, and edited these notes into a memoir. The memoir can be found on Amazon.

Wellness Packs
Wellness Packs Available at Student Health Center

The Student Health Center has available for students in need. Our wellness packs contain personal hygiene items like toothbrush and toothpaste, hair brush and comb, deodorant, face wash, shampoo, and more. If you'd like to keep a few wellness packs on hand, let us know. We're happy to help.

Special Events Crew Work Opportunity

Special Events Crew positions are . This is an extra pay work opportunity available to all full-time Â鶹ÊÓƵ employees. Earn extra cash ($25/hour flat rate) by helping with Â鶹ÊÓƵ-related work after hours and weekends. We need your help with set up, moving, and take down across campus.

Payroll Announcement

Payroll Announcement:

Timesheets for pay period 8/3/2024 - 8/16/2024 are due on regularly scheduled deadlines. Timesheets for pay period 8/17/2024 - 8/30/2024 will be due early due to campus closure on 9/2/24. Bi-weekly employees must enter timesheets by 11:59 p.m. Supervisors must approve by 2:00 p.m.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ Center for Resiliency Accepts Submissions for Fiscal Year 2025 Springboard Project Funding

All faculty are invited to submit applications for FY 2025 Springboard projects beginning June 21, 2024. Application forms are available from Carrie Schmidt at CSchmidt5@lamar.edu. All applications must be submitted to your college team lead for your dean's consideration.
