Â鶹ÊÓƵ Center for Resiliency Continues Disaster Backpack Distributions on Wednesdays
Prepare for hurricane season with the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Center for Resiliency Smartstorm disaster training and receive a backpack complete with emergency supplies to assist you and your family in the event of a disaster. Bring your participation verification to the Signature Center suites located in the Cherry Engineering Building on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The date for the August EPAF Training class has been changed to Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 8:30 a.m. The class is held in the IT Training Room on the second floor of the Reaud Building. Center for Resiliency Research Showcase

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Center for Resiliency will host another Research Showcase in the Science and Tech Building Bird House. Come see research from across the colleges of Â鶹ÊÓƵ while networking with alumni, staff, students and Southeast Texas professionals. Light snacks and beverages provided.

Boomtown Summer Serenade: BARTLY
Date: Friday, Aug. 23, 7:30 p.m. Location: Spindeltop Boomtown Museum
The next Boomtown Summer Serenade series performance will feature musical artist BARTLY on Friday, August 23 at for a night of live music food, drinks, and local art vendors. Come early to browse and shop at local craft vendor tables. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., music starts at 8 p.m. Entry fee is $5, or free for Â鶹ÊÓƵ students.

Location: Join us for a night filled with laughter and nostalgia for the viewing of The Magnificent Seven. With food trucks and adult beverages, it's the perfect Friday night outing. Food truck, concessions and drinks will be available for purchase. Entry is $5, or free for Â鶹ÊÓƵ students.

2024 Digital Ticket Learning Technologies Conference
Date: Friday, Oct. 25, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Location: Â鶹ÊÓƵ Setzer Student Center
Free online registration is now open for the 2024 Digital Ticket Conference. Registered attendees will attend sessions centered on digital learning and the latest in educational technology. Registration includes lunch and coffee/snacks between sessions. Session proposals will be accepted through August 31.

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Writing Center is moving to the Maes building on campus. During library renovations, we'll temporarily share space with the Language Lab in Maes Room 113. You can still book appointments at lamar.edu/writingcenter, and we open for Fall 2024 on September 3. Write on!

First Generation Connections Launches This Fall
The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Office of Strategic Initiatives is launching First Generation (First Gen) Connections this fall. The purpose is to engage first-generation students using holistic approaches to advance curricular and co-curricular outcomes and transform their college experience. The First Gen Connections program is for students whose parent(s) did not complete a four-year degree. Learn more at lamar.edu/firstgen.

Payroll Announces Pay Dates for Upcoming Fiscal Year
New payroll dates for for FY 2025 for monthly and biweekly paid employees (as well as a new supplemental payroll schedule) has been posted on the Payroll website under "Important Dates & Forms." You can also find EPAF deadline dates and the new Parts-of Term schedule in this section.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ Foundation FY24 Request to Pay Processing Deadline
Deadline: Monday, Aug. 19, noon
All Request to Pays (RTP) to be processed for FY24 must be delivered to the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Foundation office by noon Monday, August 19. TexFlex - Use your FSA Funds by August 31
Deadline: Saturday, Aug. 31, midnight
If you contributed to a TexFlex flexible spending account for the current plan year, make sure to check your balance so that you don't lose any funds. You can carry over up to $610 to the 2024-25 plan year. Any remaining overage will be forfeited.

End of Fiscal Year 2024 Deadlines Established
The Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 ends on August 31, 2024. Financial Services has established the following deadlines for processing transactions against current FY24 funds to ensure the university's business is conducted in full compliance with state laws and policies. This also helps establish purchase orders/contracts/payments/travel/payroll/inventory applications for the start of FY25. These deadlines are established to enable staff to better manage the increased year-end workload.

Center for Resiliency Accepts Submissions for Fiscal Year 2025 Springboard Project Funding
All faculty are invited to submit applications for FY 2025 Springboard projects beginning June 21, 2024. Application forms are available from Carrie Schmidt at CSchmidt5@lamar.edu. All applications must be submitted to your college team lead for your dean's consideration.
