Cardinal Cheer Christmas Celebration

Date: Sunday, Dec. 8, 2 - 5 p.m.
Location: McDonald Gym

Join us for an afternoon of holiday fun hosted by the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Cheer Team. Get into the festive spirit with hot cocoa, delicious cookies, face painting, fun crafts, bake sale, letters to the North Pole, and pictures with Santa. Pictures with Santa will be $10 donation for kids ages 0-18, and Lamar students, faculty, and staff can get one photo taken for free.

Campus Update on Prohibited Technologies

On February 6, 2023, Governor Greg Abbott released the required , developed jointly by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR), to protect Texas' information and infrastructure. This model plan includes state-prohibited technologies, required objectives, and the mandatory development and implementation of state agencies' policies, procedures, and objectives. 

The  for prohibited technologies include five objectives for every Texas state agency and institution of higher education, including their employees, students, contractors, interns, and any users of state-owned networks.

Since January 6, 2023, Â鶹ÊÓƵ IT Services division has implemented a network ban on TikTok.  This meant that TikTok will not work on Â鶹ÊÓƵ owned, or personal devices connected to the Â鶹ÊÓƵ network.   

Beginning January 6, 2025, Â鶹ÊÓƵ IT Services division will expand the list of prohibited technologies in accordance with the state-wide model.

Boomtown Holiday Hours
Spindletop Boomtown Museum Holiday Hours

Come take a tour through Boomtown City in Lights this holiday season. Admission is free for all Â鶹ÊÓƵ students, faculty, and staff. Open Dec. 1- Dec. 29. Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m. - 9 p.m., Sunday 1 - 9 p.m. Last admission is at 8 p.m. Museum will be closed Dec. 24, 25, 31.

Pulse Literary Magazine: Call for Submissions

Deadline: Sunday, Dec. 15, 11:59 p.m.

Submissions open Oct. 15 - Dec. 15. Categories for submission: poetry, fiction, art, screenplays, scholarly essays, creative nonfiction, poetry translation. $100 prizes will be awarded for each category. Animeals Pet Food Drive

Deadline: Monday, Dec. 16, 5 p.m.

The will conclude on Monday, Dec. 16 at 5 p.m. Please drop off any donations of dry dog or cat food and wet dog or cat food to Galloway Building Room 102. Donations received support Animeals, a program of Nutrition & Services for Seniors (Meals on Wheels).

3rd Annual Graduate Research Conference

State of Texas Seeking Non-Voting Student Representatives to TSUS Board of Regents & THECB

Deadline to apply: Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, 5 p.m.

Each year, the State of Texas seeks applicants for non-voting student representatives to the Texas State University System (TSUS) Board of Regents and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). Students selected for these positions play an important part in representing the students of each Texas public university.

Applicants must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA, be able to attend required TSUS or THECB meetings, and have a strong drive and self-motivation to contribute to the progress of higher education in Texas. Applications must be printed out and submitted no later than Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025 at 5 p.m. to the Office of the President, Reaud Building, Room 321.
