Deaf Studies M.A.

The Master of Arts in deaf studies is a research program made up of 36 credit hours of course work.

Full-Time

Our full-time track that includes four full semesters and two summers.

Part-Time

A part-time track is available depending on course offerings.

Our program welcomes Deaf and hearing graduate students.

Program Requirements

  1. Maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the program.
  2. A minimum of 36 hours are required for graduation.
  3. Graduate students are required to be fluent in American Sign Language.

Admission Requirements

  1. Complete admissions application online through the Apply Texas (Visit Â鶹ÊÓƵ's graduate admissions website for additional information.)
  2. Submit official transcripts from each college or university attended, including the accredited institution from which the applicant has earned a bachelor's degree.
  3. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.
  4. Provide evidence of American Sign Language competency based on the ASL-PI. 
  5. Provide three letters of support.
  6. Complete an interview with DSDE faculty.
