Speech and Hearing hosts Sumitrajit Dhar
The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences presents Sumitrajit (Sumit) Dhar in the Gruber Seminar Series. The series will take place May 1 from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in room GL-600 on the 6th floor of the Mary and John Gray Library.
Dhar, professor at Northwestern University, is scheduled to speak about Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE): Probing the Inner Ear at the series.
Dhar holds a Ph.D. in hearing science from Purdue University, a Master of Science in audiology from Utah State University, and a Bachelor of Science in audiology from the University of Bombay.
Dhar will present recent works probing the aging trajectory of the inner ear using a variety of OAE techniques. The results indicate that signs of age-related changes in cochler function can be evident as early third decade of life. Implications for future clinical practice and functional outcomes of the changes will also be discussed during the seminar.
