Members and guests of Women and Philanthropy, an organization Nancy Evans founded, will be the first to see artwork the former first lady of Â鶹ÊÓƵ envisioned.
The winter luncheon of Women and Philanthropy will be held Feb. 19, at 11:30 a.m. on the first floor of Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s new Science and Technology Building with a 25-foot mosaic as its backdrop.
One of the last pieces of artwork Evans initiated for Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s public art collection prior to her death in June 2018, was a magnificent mosaic depicting a body of water with lily pads and rippling reflection by renowned artist Dixie Friend Gay. Although the grand opening for the building is scheduled for April 3, the organization founded by Evans will get a sneak peek of the building, the artwork and have the opportunity to meet Dixie Friend Gay as well as Julie Richey, a mosaic artist and instructor. The two are featured speakers at the luncheon.
