Toast to Leadership honors campus leaders, Seniors of Significance
Nineteen students were recognized at Toast to Leadership Banquet, held April 12 at the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Event Center. The Seniors of Significance Award, sponsored by the Division of Student Engagement, recognizes students who have excelled in scholarship, leadership, and service to campus and community and have brought distinction to Â鶹ÊÓƵ.
A Senior of Significance is one who has made a positive impact on the Â鶹ÊÓƵ campus and in their individual academic fields during their time in college.
Recognized as 2019 Seniors of Significance were: Danny Abdullah, Nederland, Chemistry; Roshney Ali, Nederland, Biology; Tristen Anding, Port Arthur, Political Science; Michael Cheng, Stafford, Music Education; Carly Duplant, Groves, Music Education; Jenora Haynes, Missouri City, Fashion Retail & Merchandising; Lillian Hill, Edna, English; Derek Inoma, Missouri City, Industrial Engineering; Cade Johnson, Lumberton, Biology and Exercise Science; Serene Kaggal, Beaumont, Psychology; Victoria LaFleur, Port Neches, Accounting and Finance; Emily Lawrence, Orange, Political Science; Alexus Locke, Cypress, Mechanical Engineering; Madison Marino, Vidor, Finance and Economics; Zhen Wei Ooi, Port Arthur, Chemical Engineering; Daniel Pemberton, Beaumont, Corporate Communication; Natalie Sfeir, Beaumont, Speech & Hearing Sciences; and Jennifer Watters, Silsbee, Chemical Engineering.
Madison Marino received the Bess Gentry Award for Outstanding Senior Wom an. Cade Johnson received the C. Robert Kemble Award for Outstanding Senior Man. Raegan Minaldi (Junior, Port Neches, Political Science) received the Ann Shaw Leadership Award for fostering a spirit of teamwork, excellence in leadership, and exhibiting exemplary personal ethics and integrity while making significant contributions to the Â鶹ÊÓƵ community.
Two student organizations were recognized for their achievements in 2018-19. The Vietnamese Student Association was named Most Improved Student Organization. The National Student Speech, Language, and Hearing Association was named Student Organization of the Year. Dr. Natalie Tindall was recognized as Student Organization Advisor of the Year for her service to Public Relations Student Society of America.
