The Fall 2023 Cardinal View event, held on Nov. 11, boasted a 34% increase in attendance compared to last fall, with 586 prospective students in attendance.
"Our faculty and staff rolled out the red carpet in every way for our guests—prospective students and their families enjoyed meeting departments and student organizations, participating in student and staff panels, turned in transcripts, attended student aid presentations, and toured Â鶹ÊÓƵ's campus, resident halls, and University Theatre, Communication Building, and Health and Human Performance Complex," Welcome Center Director Angela Fanette said.
Cardinal View is Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s largest open house event, designed for prospective students and their guests.
The Academic Showcase featured over 63 tables, representing various departments, while an additional 41 tables highlighted student organizations and campus resources. The diversity of offerings provided a comprehensive look into the academic programs and extracurricular activities at Â鶹ÊÓƵ.
A unique aspect of this year's Cardinal View was its alignment with Veterans Day. Veterans were in attendance were acknowledged for their service, and recognized with a special lunch at the dining hall.
"My favorite part of the entire event was watching a student speak with a professor, passionate about their program and willing to provide information to someone getting ready to make some pretty big choices for their future. In that moment, I truly felt that this is what Cardinal View is all about,” Fanette said.
Looking ahead, Fanette expressed optimism for the future.
“We are expecting the event to grow even larger this spring and plan to continue to develop the program to support faculty and staff as they provide an excellent experience to prospective students,” Fanette said.
