M. K. Hamza, Ph.D., LP

mohammed hamzaDr. M. K. Hamza is a professor of clinical mental health counseling at Â鶹ÊÓƵ in the Department of Counseling. He is also a consulting forensic neuropsychologist. He is an educator, researcher, cognitive scientist and mental health professional. He is currently the chairman of the Syrian American Medical Society Mental Health Committee, which includes professionals from the US, as well as outside the US serving four significant refugee zones (Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey). His publications include refereed scholarly writings, presentations and speeches delivered at reputable organizations including medical, psychiatric and legal conferences and meetings.

Awards/Honors

Dr. Hamza received and was nominated for a number of prestigious university and organization awards.

Courses

Dr. Hamza has taught courses in the department of professional pedagogy (e.g. educational psychology, learning theories, child development). Then, Dr. Hamza taught courses in the counseling and leadership department (management of instructional design, instructional technology, instructional design, programming). Since 2012, Dr. Hamza has been teaching in the counseling and special population courses, such as (abnormal psychology, professional ethics and law, consultation, test measurement and evaluation and other clinical mental health courses).

Experience

Tenured full professor at Â鶹ÊÓƵ since 2003. Also a consulting forensic neuropsychologist.

Research/Publications

Dr. Hamza published extensively at the local, national and international level in the areas of creativity, psychology, computing science, clinical mental health and forensics.

Service

Serve a number of college committees, the community at the regional, national, and international level. He is also chairman of mental health services to SAMS (Syrian American Medical Society) serving refugees internationally as well as serving disastrous situations nationally.
