Welcome to the Reaud Honors College! My name is Daisy Calero Estrella, and as outgoing president of the Honors Student Association (HSA), I am proud to share with you what makes our Reaud Honors College (RHC) community amazing.
Without exaggerating, being in the RHC has completely changed my collegiate journey so far and will continue to do so. Being in the honors college is more than a high GPA; you are truly challenged to be the best version of yourself in all aspects of your professional and personal life. These high expectations come with superior resources to guide you!
From the summer before your first year in the RHC, you will be invited to begin expanding your network through the Honors Summer Reading Program, peer mentorship and, once on campus, RHC Orientation. The people you meet in the Honors College, starting with these initial introductions, will become a crucial part of your support system throughout your time at Â鶹ÊÓƵ. Over the years, you will grow with your peers and develop into a leader ready to forge your own path to success.
Your honors peers are not afraid to dream big! You will be encouraged to be ambitious in pursuing opportunities that expand your knowledge. Your peers’ stories of research, internships, volunteering, leadership, and so forth are shared to inspire you!!!
As a Nursing student in the Honors College, I have participated in programs unique to honors, including Model UN and HSA, and written articles for the college’s alumni magazine, Cadenza. The RHC is also the origin for many new student organizations that cater to all Â鶹ÊÓƵ students, such as Â鶹ÊÓƵ Hispanic Society and the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science, which I hold leadership positions in thanks to the experiences I've gained through the RHC. Quite literally, the RHC is the birthplace of many of Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s leaders!
I understand how important it is to weigh your options when selecting your higher education institution. I highly recommend the Reaud Honors College for its tight-knit community dedicated to excellence and service. The opportunities here are unparalleled and will change your life forever. I invite you to learn more about the RHC by visiting our website! Once you join the RHC, you’ll soon discover a community willing to help answer questions and address concerns. Like many of my honors peers, I am always excited to talk more about my experience in the RHC with you!
Wishing you the best of luck in all your endeavors and hoping to meet you soon,
Daisy
