Trademarks

University departments may use, with permission from Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Marketing Communications Department, the Â鶹ÊÓƵ institution marks and the Â鶹ÊÓƵ trademarks designated as "Lamar Spirit Marks" for:

  • Advertising for the department's services
  • Equipment and supplies
  • Merchandise
  • Signage
  • Websites

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ marks may not be altered in any way and all uses must include the department's name/logo prominently. University departments are required to use licensed vendors for all products bearing Â鶹ÊÓƵ marks.

Royalty Fees

University departments will not be subject to payment of the royalty fee as long as the proposed design on their merchandise makes the specific university department the predominant element of the design.

However, the use of general Â鶹ÊÓƵ marks (Â鶹ÊÓƵ Star, Cardinal Head, Interlocking Â鶹ÊÓƵ, etc.) or any licensed Lamar Athletics' marks, where the university department name is not predominant to the design requires payment of the standard royalty fee by the licensed vendor.

Non-Royalty Examples:

  • A t-shirt design with "Â鶹ÊÓƵ Office of Public Relations" on the front of the shirt would not be subject to the payment of the royalty fee.
  • A t-shirt design with "Â鶹ÊÓƵ Office of Public Relations supports Â鶹ÊÓƵ Football" on the front of the shirt would not be subject to the payment of the royalty fee.

Royalty Examples:

  • A t-shirt design with only a general Â鶹ÊÓƵ mark or any licensed Lamar Athletics' mark would be subject to the payment of the royalty fee.
  • A t-shirt design where the mention of the university department is incidental to a general Â鶹ÊÓƵ mark or any licensed Lamar Athletics' mark would be subject to the payment of the royalty fee.
