Q: How has the College of Education and Human Development helped you on your journey in the educational world?A: The College of Education has helped shape the educator I am today. While going through my undergrad studies, I was provided with many opportunities to be in the classroom to observe and be hands-on with students. With the opportunities the department offered and support of my instructors, I was able to graduate and land my dream job in the best school district in Texas. My preparation has helped me become the teacher I am today. While going through the master's program, I was able to not only learn about being an administrator, but also how to better myself as a teacher. The knowledge I've gained has improved my outlook on education and provided me with more extensive knowledge to help support all students, parents, and co-workers. It has also shaped me into a better mentor to Lamar clinical teachers and co-workers. Q: What was your most recent accomplishment?A: I have had the honor of being awarded many grants to fund educational activities for my students, many nominations for Teacher of the Year, and most recently was awarded the first ever Teacher of the Month award in March 2022 by the Nederland Chamber of Commerce. Q: How are you helping aspiring educators reach their full potential?A: Through my education at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, I found a need to give back by allowing Â鶹ÊÓƵ students to come into my classroom for observations, interning and clinical teaching over the last few years. I also have had the pleasure of helping hire two of my clinical teachers to teach with me. I support Â鶹ÊÓƵ in shaping our future educators and hope to help build their love for teaching and hopefully recruit them to teach alongside me one day.
