What to Bring

These items can help make your stay at Cardinal Village more comfortable. Note that this list is only a suggestion. Please do not feel you should incur any additional expense to acquire any of these items. To help reduce costs, communicate with your roommate on the items that could be shared.

  • Mattress pad
  • Pillows & pillowcases
  • Towels & washcloths
  • Personal stereo equipment with headphones
  • Liquid laundry detergent & dryer sheets
  • Laundry basket
  • Toiletries (tooth brush, toothpaste, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, etc.)
  • Lamps
  • Clothes hangers
  • School supplies (backpack, pencils, pens, Scantrons, Blue Books, spirals, etc.)
  • Alarm clock
  • Bathroom cleaning supplies (i.e. bleach, cleaners, sponges, rags, toilet brush, etc.)
  • Mini-refrigerator
  • Toilet plunger
  • Bath mat
  • Shower curtain with hooks
  • Living room and bedroom cleaning supplies (Pledge, Windex, etc)
  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Toilet paper
  • Paper towels
  • Cutlery (spoons, forks, knives, cups, plates, etc.)
  • Dish soap
  • Garbage cans with trash bags
  • Television
  • Computer
  • Printer and printing supplies
  • Surge protector (please use this if you have several electrical items in use at one time)
  • Air freshener (NO candles)
  • Coffee or cappuccino maker

What to Leave at Home

Your suite in Cardinal Village is provided with several amenities, including everything listed on the Floor Plan. We encourage all residents to secure renters insurance for their personal property.

Due to health and safety policies, we ask that you leave the following items at home, as they are not allowed in university housing:

  • George Foreman grills
  • Hot plates
  • Electric skillets
  • Electric kettles
  • Toasters
  • Toaster ovens
  • Crockpots
  • All other heating & cooking appliances
  • Alcohol (even if you are 21 years of age)
  • Loud stereo equipment
  • Dressers
  • Microwave
  • Pets of any kind (unless they are certified service animals)
  • Patio furniture
  • Flammable/combustible materials (i.e. paint thinner, lighter fluid, fireworks etc.)
  • Halogen lamps
  • Lava lamps
  • Heating lamps
  • Portable heaters
  • Weapons or firearms
  • BBQ grills
  • Candles
  • Wax or oil warmers
  • Incense burners
  • Anything that produces fire
  • Rice cookers
